One thing to bear in mind, though, is that the ends of the screws that connect the handle to the case protrude into the inside of the thing a little, around 3-4mm
Then there must be (at least) 2 versions of the Pelican 1200... On my 1200 the handle attaches to extensions molded into (onto?) the case. The only thing sharp inside the case is the pressure release valve which protrudes about 1.5-2mm into the case. On the inside, behind where the handle attaches there are small ridges which look to be about as high as the pressure valve - those and the foam should protect anything non-convex from ever touching the valve.
