In my area (southern california) most radio stations are owned by one of nine companies, which offer about four formats.

In my area, central North Carolina, there probably aren't but about nine radio stations total. This list, while probably accurate, lists stations I can't even begin to pick up on any radio. Probably half of them. But it doesn't make any difference, because they all suck.
