I found it handy to change pocket money at the airport, seeing as there's no ATM there to get cash from. But otherwise, yeah, just do it at an ATM. Make sure to tell your bank that you're going to be overseas so they (hopefully) don't put a lock on your account when they see that it's been "stolen".
