The stock empeg USA/Canada supplies were 12V @ 1amp, and have worked perfectly for me here in single and dual-drive players. That should be plenty of juice to spin up a single drive empeg.

But just to remove any doubt -- one could unplug the drive, and then power up the empeg. Tons of excess power available now, and you don't need to waste time on a different PSU to try it.
