It all depends really, if that machine is a one-off then I'd argue to keep the installation as-is and just add all security bit.

However, if you've got 400 machines to do then ghosting an OS image over a network can be a godsend. When the newspaper arm of the company moved buildings they replaced all their computers with new Dell machines and made a standard build with Office all configured for their exchange servers and their editorial and support software pre-installed.
