The heat has been a pretty big problem in this area. It caused that storm a week ago (a derecho?) that knocked out power for millions of people, some of whom still don't have it back, which has got to be terrible when combined with the continued high heat. We only lost power for around 28 hours, but that second night was miserable and we still had to throw out most of the stuff in our fridge.

It's awful. Our AC is struggling to keep the temps in our house down when we're home during the day. We hate to even venture outside! There was a day in June that was the highest recorded heat for June in DC (104), and two degrees shy of the all-time DC record of 106 in some August.

It sucks.
