How did you connect the power and tape adapter? Just use straight 12v from the cigarette lighter, fuse? And i assume you had to make an adapter to go
from RCA to the tape adapter.
Anything in particular or is it as easy as i would imagine?
He actually borrowed the tape adapter from me so I'll answer :-) I actually wrote a proper installation report about it a year or so ago.
The tape adapter was a relatively cheap and nasty one (well, not that cheap it was around eight quid IIRC). It has a "bass boost" button which has serious trades description act problems in that it appears from taking it apart to be a normally open bass filter :-)
Anyway, Hugo kindly chopped the 3.5mm jack off the end and replaced it with two phonos with only one ground connection (since there is a common ground inside the empeg on the 1V outputs).
The power adapter is a simple cigarette to power plug adapter with extra insulating tape as you assumed.
The sound quality is actually rather good compared to tape. I'm sure a correctly wired amp etc. would sound much better but since I drive very little it usually serves my purposes. The only disadvantage is that the unit believes it is at home rather than in the car - this isn't a problem since I need to run at 0dB for the tape adapter anyway.

I may not be speaking on behalf of empeg above :-)
