While I'm not a huge G&S (Gilbert & Sullivan) fan, I like a bit of their stuff.

At my school, I'm a member of an entirely student run G&S production company. Two years ago we did a production of Pirates of Penzance. I just thought I'd put up a recording of out version of I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major General.

If you do listen to it, keep two things in mind: it's a student production, and it's the winter immediately following the 2000 elections

That was actually quite good, and pretty funny. I've seen Penzance once or twice and I don't think it ever occurred to those productions to change the lyrics for that song. You'all did it quote humorously...mucho points for rhyming Gorbechov. Your singer handled the part well, though the audio quailty was so bad that it was hard to tell if he got everything or not. (I know I could never even come close to doing it without completely stroking out.)

Yeah, thanks a lot! He was really good. Perfect for the part. in fact, he was able to do it even faster, like the micro machines guy, but the director didn't want to risk it

Anybody ever seen The Pirate Movie? It's pretty much The Pirates of Penzance, but done in a very cheezy, over-the-top way. Really funny, actually.
