Um, I'm not sure I like this. Right now I'm typing into an orange box and it's really hard to read.

Also, are you able to change the colors of some of the buttons anymore? they don't quite match.

Oohhh, these colors are making me queasy...

Colours look okay to me - i think some of the old buttons are hanging around so you
might want to try a page reload.

Apart from that you should be seeing the bbs in the old colours unless you've changed
the scheme under Edit Profile -> Display Prefs...

I don't see that. I see completely plain text and forms.
Excellent. I love (disabled) stylesheets.

Hmm, my colors are OK, but for some strange reason, after the new BBS code was installed, I had to go into my profile and set the display order back to "Descending Date" because the messages were coming up with the oldest ones listed first. This didn't happen on the "test" version of the 5.1.1 code I looked at yesterday.

Is it possible that some user profiles got slightly glitched during the transfer?

In any case, now everything is fine for me after I made that one change. For any users experiencing trouble with the new BBS, I would suggest the following:

- Clear your browser's cache and cookies.
- Log into the BBS and poke around your user profile to make sure all the settings are OK.

Um, I'm not sure I like this. Right now I'm typing into an orange box and it's really hard to read.

I'm with you, all of the text boxes and list boxes have black text on a bright orange background. Also, it would seem that the check boxes are surrounded by a small orange border as well. I tried choosing another color scheme, applying it, then changing it back, but that didn't seem to work.

P.S. I'm running IE5.5 on Win2000.

This is not a cookie/cached stylesheet issue (I have cleared my cache, but I'm not about to clear all my cookies).

The box I am typing into is bright orange and the text is 8 point in size.

Here is the HTML for the reply page:

<textarea cols="80" rows="5" class="formboxes" wrap="soft" name="Body"></textarea>

And the matching stylesheet entry:

.formboxes
{
FONT-SIZE: 8pt;
COLOR: #000000;
FONT-FAMILY: geneva, arial, sans-serif;
BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ff9900
}

What it looks like:

It's a knightmare to read and very difficult to use the scrollbar successfully, I've got a headache after putting together this post.

So removing the font size and more sane colors settings would give:

That's:

.formboxes
{
COLOR: #CCCCCC;
FONT-FAMILY: geneva, arial, sans-serif;
BACKGROUND-COLOR: #444466
}

Someone is going to have to do some work on the stylesheet.

By the way the buttons are bright green !

What browser are you using Tony ? (I am using IE5.5 on Win2KSP1)

I'm also typing in an orange box. The dropdowns and the borders around the checkboxes are orange as well. I've played around with the preferences and the other ones will change the color of these controls. So it appears that the empeg skin has orange explicitely defined. Some of my buttons are green as well.

I'm using IE 5.5.

Changing the skin does work though, I have just changed to "desert" which is alot less painful than the current empeg one. It still has 8pt text boxes, but at least the background isn't orange (I also tried the large font version, but that was just too big).

Yeah, you guys are right. The orange box thing is present on IE5 but not on Nutscape.

Other problems in IE5 (already reported): Green button faces and orange borders around check boxes.

Sounds like (as was already suggested) just a couple of tweaks are needed to the style sheet for the "empeg" style.

Paul, are you listening?

Ah well, growing pains.

PS: There are still orange borders around some check boxes even in Netscape.

I think the best skin in the list is "the blues", it has a sensible size font everywhere and the colors are quite relaxing.

In fact, I quite like it...

See, it's not just me. plus, why would I have changed anything, I didn't know the BB had been upgraded. So no, I didn't choose a scheme and didn't know how until you told me. Plus, the headings on every post I see are purple.

My buttons aren't green, they're light blue.

I also like that instead of the header saying you replied to a certain post #, it shows the name of the person you're replying to.

If you can get these color problems fixed, the new board will look very cool.

Any other major colour problems tht you can spot?

I don't seem to have a problem with colors, but the font size is a little small for me. Granted, I run at 1600x1200 small fonts... The old version had a font size preference that was quite handy... IE5.x's built in text size option seems to be ignored by the board software as well...?

Anyway... nice to see the board still runs. I was hoping to find the "Latest software" heading above to be changed to "Version:1.1"... oh well.

I'll do a large font version of the empeg color scheme tommorow time permitting.

I didn't realise they had done away with the settings to increase the font size.

I suspect the IE thing is a CSS thing - weird. Works okay with mozilla!

Cheers

Cool, most of the color things are okay now. Grey is fine I suppose, better that orange. Did you change it to that so the area around the check-boxes didn't look as wierd? I can understand why.

You say the purple button thing. it's not purple buttons, it's a purple border. In every message I have, the area where the "edit" and "reply" buttons are is purple. It's really awful.

The checkbox thing varies from browser to browser -
it looks fine in Mozilla :-)

I haven't seen this purple button issue - can you let me
know what browser you are seeing this in - or better
still send me a screen capture of it!

I've tried a few browsers here and haven't seen anything
to bad apart from the checkbox weirdness.

Aaarrrhgghghghh!

Firstly, it no longer remembers to display the pages in Tahoma (my preferred style). In fact, there no longer seems to be any option for specifying a font in the display preferences at all.

And now the nice orangey-yellow buttons are being gradually, insidiously replaced by strange lilac ones with writing on them! Oh, the horror! It's too much change at once, I tell you! Put it back! Please, put it baaaaaaaack!

*sobs uncontrollably*

This came up on the w3t users forum ... the next rev of w3t will allow for mating of "button-sets" with a particular (or multiple) CSS's. So you could use the pretty blue lilac like ones for CSS's 1,2, and 3, and the orange ones for 4,5 and 6, or things like that.

Yes the font selection has been moved into the stylesheets so isn't user selectable.

I agree about the buttons - hopefully the next release will allow you to have diffrent
button sets with diffrent stylesheets - until then you are stuck with the blue ones
with the writing on!

Hopefully the new features of this code release make it worthwhile?!

Hey Paul, if you are still reading this is it possible to set a background color for those of us (probably just me) whose browser-o-choice does not support stylesheets? The old version had the background color set to black (looked just like the empeg style sheet), but now it is white which just doesn't work with the other colors/graphics.

Seems that it not only has to support stylesheets, it has to
support javascript as well. So I'm with Mike.

I've just noticed a curious thing. I look at the forum index and select the last post for the previous day with new news items. I then use the 'previous post' buttons on the page to step through the posts.
Sometimes I when i get to the last post (most recent) and press the 'previous' button again, I go to the First post (least recent) i looked at in that forum. can someone check this behaviour so i know whether it's my browser or not.
