Hi everyone,

How can I tell what song is playing if the tag information is worthless? Somehow I have (at least one) CD where the tracks got tagged as "No Title", "No Artist". Great. The empeg doesn't display the filename because there is a tag there -- just a worthless one. I have the player shuffling everything, so I don't know where the file comes from.

I realize this sounds like a stupid question, but the disc is classical, and I believe a compilation disc. I haven't been able to figure it out just by listening. Its not as if Van Morrison's Astral Weeks was mistagged, which I would have been able to identify instantly...

Is there a procedure I can use, either with the web interface, or with the serial port, or something, to determine which file is playing AND then find out which playlist(s) contain the file? Then I can fix up the tag information...

Thanks in advance,

Jim

I can think of a few ways to do this, but the easiest and first one that comes to mind is the "mark track" feature. Just mark the track, and then sync up later and you'll see what track it is when you view the marked tracks in emplode.

Would it be possible to create a command like the existing "last playlist" feature that while you are in a down-down-down mode, you can do the usual "down-hold" to get the location of where the track resides?
I've always wanted this since I usually have my player in this shuffle mode and there are times when I get to a song and want to hear the rest of the album.
This would be a better method of getting what I want to hear faster.

No, because by the time you're listening to the flattened down-down-down playlist, the player has no guaranteed way of knowing where a track originally came from. It could be accessible from more than one playlist, remember.

To listen to the rest of the album, just turn shuffle off. Assuming that the album playlist is the first place where this track resides, this will do the right thing.

That's right, I forgot the song being in more than one playlist factor. I'll try try your suggestion when I get home.
(shoot me now for I did not bring my empeg to work today)

Thanks Roger

Oh, my. That is a pretty obvious idea. How embarrassing. It will work like a charm, though. Thanks.
