I have searched and read the FAQ and cant come up with why it won't detect it.
This is my second Empeg and it was working fine, then my hard drive crashed on my computer and had to reinstall all my software and what not.
Now it does not detect the Empeg. I am on windows XP, and I have version 2.0 on the empeg and emplode. I have always used the crossover cable connection.

Any quick help anybody? I had this problem before, but I can't remember what fixed it.

Tim

It is detecting it using the serial cable, but not ethernet.

I ran the upgrade wizard and upgraded it, but still not detecting it with crossover cable.

How do I check the drivers for it. I read about the device manager, but I don't find anything there?

If you're connecting (or trying to connect) via ethernet, there are no drivers. Some people have had problems with XP's built-in firewall. Try disabling it and see if that works. If so, you can then reenable it and do whatever tweaks are necessary to open that hole. I'm sure someone on here has listed what those tweaks are.

Specifically, did you go through this particular part of the FAQ?

I checked that, I finally got that to work right, and it shows :

IP address 66.209.234.41
Subnet Mask 255.255.252.0

My empeg is 192.168.1.2

So, what do I need to do from here ?

You need to set your Empeg to use DHCP for an ip address, or perhaps manually force it to use an available one that begins with 66.209.234.

This is done with Emplode.

...or correct your subnet mask value to 255.255.255.0

Nothing wrong with that subnet mask.

I'm assuming that this is your PC's address?

That's a public internet address, not a local LAN address. Your first step should be to put yourself behind a NAT router as described here, then both your PC and the empeg will be able to have a nice, safe, local 192.168 address and not be exposed to the internet.

Yes that was the PC's address.

I changed the network connection to 192.168.0.1 and the players to 192.168.0.2 and it found it.

Thanks for the help!!!!
Tim
