I haven't posted any politically themed posts for a while, so here it goes
CNN on Galloway's testimony before congressional commisions (commities, whatever). It is quite entertaining even if you believe Bush more than him (in which case it is a nice example of "attack is the best defence"):

A bit more quotes here, but watch the whole thing on the link Tony provided below.

Just got done watching the whole testimony, as a matter of fact. Brilliant. (Make sure to click on the main testimony link, not the highlights, if you want to watch it.) My favorite bits were where he kept referencing McCarthy, including his opening sentence. Best. Congressional. Committee. Testimony. EVAR.

Here is a transcript of his speech to Saddam in 1994 - there is a precis in bold, but the full-full text is in a comment below the main page. I always wondered what the translator made of "indefatigability’! Gareth

Wow... He's more eloquent than any Congress member will ever come close to being, regardless of his alleged dealings. That was just amazing.

I do think he's saying out loud what a lot of politicians both in the US and UK are thinking but are too worried to say it.

The guy took on Jeremy Paxman and won, a week or so ago. I imagine he eats United States Senates for breakfast.

I thought paxman was being a complete c**t (If you're referring to the interview on election night) and was totally out of order. For those who aren't aware, Paxman kept asking Galloway if he was proud that he had removed the only black woman from parliment, something which had nothing to do with Galloway, but rather the voters.
Turns out that George took his opportunity while in the capitol building to smoke one of havanas finest too, you've gotta love him!

Yeah, I think I saw that on Have I got News For. Here is a transcript and video:

I agree that it was a stupid line of questioning - he targetted the seat because of the area itself, not the MP. I think Paxman just really disliked him and didn't have any better ideas on what to talk to him about.

I like this article, which makes some interesting points about how the Galloway appearance illustrates cultural gaps, and the differences between politics in the US and UK.

He sounds more than a bit dodgey, from the Baghdad speech alone, but certainly highly eloquent...and it's more than time that someone counter-attacked the Republican attack machine, which often does seem designed to smoke-screen more important issues.
Pity no American has managed it.
Now if someone would take them on that way over the filibuster issue...
