Is there anyone that can record a show for me that is scheduled to air on June 7th? It's the "Radio One Rock Show" on BBC radio. Nine Inch Nails is to perform and I'd love a recording that wasn't just from Real Player..

Sure I shall try. Maybe if some others do so too it will mean I don't have all the pressure on me though!

Whats the best way to record it though?

I can get it on DAB but unsure what format to record it to. I don't think I can hook up a PC to it as they're in diferent rooms. Hmmmm :S

I've set my Sky+ box to record all three hours of it in case everyone else fails to record it. I would have to then record it in real-time to my PC though, so if someone can record it with a Freeview or Satellite card that would be much easier.

Wow, thanks a lot guys! I hate messing with Real Player and the time differance usually means I'm digging through the show archives. Hopefully one of your recordings will turn out.

Thanks so much!

I could do you an MP2 straight off the DVB-T transport stream, although a decent FM recording will sound better. Just because it's newer doesn't mean it's better.

Upon further inspection it's a 192kbit MP2 at 48k, so it might not sound that bad.

I've just grabbed 30 seconds of Radio 1 to give you an idea of the quality I should be able to get:

http://www.andym.net/radio1.mp2

I assume the program you want is: The Rock Show with Mike Davies at 0100 BST on the 7th?

EDIT: Now the only problem is remembering to record it.

According to the shows website the NIN show is on the 7th. Their schedule page is weird, each day starts at 4 am and goes on past midnight.

I've heard similar confusion on the NIN sites.

I assumed it was 8pm local time, that's why I thought it was going to be hard to record unless I left work early. Actually, my radio doesn't pick up BBC broadcasts anyway.

Yeah, it says "Tuesday nights 1-3am". I was just making sure that anyone setting up an automated recording, didn't accidentally set it for 1am on 7th June (Tuesday).

Just a little "bump" as the show nears...

Thank you so much guys! I have a copy of the previous show this year, but in low quality. I'm dying to hear the band via people that know how to record things for once!

It's in my cron tab, so barring any disasters I should be able to get. That said, if everyone else records it too, then we should be set.

TiVo's all set. I just hope it's not windy that night, my dish is on a makeshift support and tends to move in high(ish) winds.

Yeah, the date/time confused me a little I must admit. I had to check on the BBC R1 website because I thought TiVo was telling lies (it wasn't). I read through this thread afterwards and its already been mentioned, doh!

Extracting the audio stream isn't something that I have the software in place to do right off the bat. I dabbled with TiVo video/audio extraction a few years ago and it was a mess, so much so that the effort required exceeded my curiousity level. This recording is probably the motivation I need to re-evaluate the current audio/video extraction tools!

Right then all set, although I should point out that while my machine is UPS'ed the aerial amp feeding it isn't. So if we have a power cut I'll probably have a file of silence.

I'm not sure why NIN is on the BBS so danged much, but I just got this message:

Quote:
BBC Radio 1's The Rock Show will be featuring nin live on Tuesday. The show will be airing from 1 to 3 AM GMT on the 21st, which should be 8 to 10 pm EST in the US.

Andy did a kick butt job recording the last show. I know it's short notice, but if anyone can record this showing as well, there's one NIN fan sitting here that would really appreciate it!

You'll soon have the option of getting the shows for yourself! BBC 1 is about to join the Sirius line-up.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4114062.stm

Hopefully the bandwidth given the station will be decent.
