You are aware that zero toggles the shuffle on the current remote ?

Is that documented? If so, my bad! Thanks!
Working the empeg isn't the most intuitive right off the bat, but learning it is very easy... (Like the * button brings up the menu and the MD button changes the info mode)...
cool!

I don't know if it is documented in the empeg manual. There are details of the remote features here. __ Unit serial number 47 (was 330 in the queue)...

We now have a custom remote which will hopefully be available from the Rio store in the not too distant future.

Greetings!
Do you have any images that we can look at?
Will it also be available from the empeg site?

We haven't got photos yet, but I'm sure there will be some soon.
When the Rio Car becomes available from the Rio store, the empeg store will close.

There is a link embedded in this post that will take you to a web page with 140 thumbnails on it (thanks, Rob Schofield!) or you can go directly here .
The pictures you want will be:
the 7th picture in the third-from-the-bottom row;
the 1st picture in the second-from-the-bottom row;
the 4th picture in the second-from-the-bottom row.
(You won't want to wait while all 140 pictures load up in your browser!)
Those are pictures of the prototype empeg remote. As far as I know, the production version is the same.

You know, Doug, it's possible to link pictures directly, or even use the BBS "image" tag to place the pictures directly into a post. Like this...

Sssshhhh! I'm trying to impress people with the terrific job of sleuthing I did to track down that post, and then figure out which three out of the 140 pictures were the right ones. Just linking to the picture wouldn't be nearly as impressive.
(Besides... I didn't know I could do that! :-)

The production remote isn't exactly the same, the layout and colours are a little different.
I'll see if I can take a quick piccie today.

Thanks! I remember having seen the pic, but I thought that it would be redesigned with the Rio branding, etc. And, as Roger said later, shuffle will be spelled correctly!!! Thanks!

After seeing the pics and pondering for a few days...I would like to add my 2p. I think that the new remote would look better with a black face with white printing. With the MK II being black with grey trim, I feel that a matching remote may be more peasing to the eye, what does anyone else think? John

Agreed, i thought the color scheme for the remote shown in Amersfoot was pretty awful... but Rob said above that the color's are different on the production version.
Have any pics Rob?

Greetings!
Indeed! I hope that I will be able to buy a few of these soon, to replace the extra Kenwoods I bought along with the empeg. I have a feeling that there will be a few Kenwood KCA-R6A's on ebay!!! I guess ERC-1A is for Empeg Rio Car - 1A...

ERC-1A was on the old one as well, my guess is "Empeg Remote Control - 1A"
What I am wondering is whats the reasoning behind "Hush" instead of "mute"?

It doesn't mute, it attenuates. We didn't like "attenuate" or "att." so we thought we'd be very english and have "Hush" instead :)
Of course, there were some prototype controls with a Stun/Kill button too...

It's either a group of presets (FM1, FM2, FM3), or it selects between AM and FM. Or perhaps it's both. ___________ Tony Fabris

Yes, but what the hell is "Bank"?
It's an oblique reference to the way the buttons look a bit like the stations on a London Underground map.

No, there are no changes to the fascia. The metalwork is screen printed (with the Rio logo) instead of having a label and the warranty void sticker is now internal.

So the Mute/Hush button now attenuates rather than simply pausing the music? That's great!

Next question then....When the new remote is available, are us owners going to have to shell out a big dollar if we wish to upgrade / exchange? or will there be kind of an upgrade incentive much like MK I owers going to MK II etc...(Boy these owners want everthing handed to them eh? ha ha)

If you want one, you'll have to buy one. I think this is fair enough, even if it were still empeg selling it. The price will be about the same as the Kenwood.
We will continue to support the Kenwood remote, although the Rio remote will be more convenient to use.

Shouldn't you also add Mornington Cresent?
Perhaps a bit long for a button.

Perhaps a bit long for a button.
ITAR regulations, enforced by the DTI (but really GCHQ), make exporting Mornington Crescent in tangible form very difficult. We're looking at using SEPTA, the Philadelphia urban transit network, on export models; the Tuner button will thus be labelled "Market East".
