Have an NVMe drive gather dust that I would like to put to some use. Having it in an external enclose with regular USB and USB-C connections would be ideal. But some of the reviews report stability issues, is there a particular chipset I should be avoiding?

Seven years ago I bought a pair of these to use for my external backups and also copies of the backups to be kept off premises.

They have given no problems of any kind.

Unfortunately, Amazon does not carry them anymore. However... these below are still available and they appear to be identical to the IDsonix ones I bought.

I don't know what an NVMe drive is, or whether this is the sort of thing you are looking for, but take a look and see.

Think SSD, but with a different interface/plug (not SATA or IDE), and you are most of the way there.
