Most of the codes are also in hijack.h, part of the patchfile for the hijack kernels.
The Kenwood codes are also in that file, some of which provide functionality not available with the RIO remote.
Cheers.

Hi Paul.
Yeah, a nice easy proprietary Microsoft format. Could you save that as a TAB or Comma seperated file and attach that to your post? Would make life easier for me and probably many other Linux users.

Hi Tony.
Ever used StarOffice on a text console?
My Linux system (at least the one I keep all my web pages and empeg stuff on) does have a VGA card, but 640x480 is no fun, and higher resolutions aren't supported on this hardware by XFree86. Even now, I'm using links (the software, a text based web browser) to visit the BBS.
Now getting a bit more honest, I do have access to MS Office (in the office), but that is there and I am here, with 60km in between. So in theory, I could just wait for thursday (when I get back to the office) and convert it there myself.
But really, why was it posted as an Excel file in the first place?

Because the person posting it genuinely thought that would be the most useful format.

I almost didn't get online to post tonight. Took me a while to start the windmill up to power this machine and then I had to start a fire with wet rocks. :)
I think excel is a safe bet most of the time because nearly every man, woman and child has access to it somewhere. Or in the least access to some viewer or converter.
Bruno
Then again, I don't really use excel and generally just write stuff like that into plain text files. :)

Unless I'm using Linux. Or Solaris, or HP-UX, or FreeBSD, or .... Given, there are a few programs that can read Excel's proprietary format, but why bother? The .xls format above is four times the size of the .csv I posted with the same information. Plus, everybody can read the .csv, even if they don't have a spreadsheet program at all.
I don't mean to be berating you, but it's these sorts of statements and ideas that allow Microsoft to retain their strangehold on modern computing.

I'm going to start using ascii to describe all my JPEGS from now on. Don't want to take the chance that someone out there doesn't have the capability to parse a jpeg.
BTW, I specifically said I don't normally use excel. But don't chastise someone else who does. A spreadsheet has obvious advantages over a text file for many uses. And simply because Microsoft's spreadsheet program just happens to be the most popular it's a natural target - like everything else they do.
As tired as some people are of their "monopoly," I'm more tired of people bashing them because they think it's the "cool" thing to do.
Apart from poeple using any random flavour of unix, there are also people using MacOS 9 and earlier and many other operating systems. People still use ATARI ST's and Amigas.
I don't want to bash BSD or Linux, etc.. They're great for a specific purpose, but give me a break, would I ever consider them something to distribute mass-scale as a general computing platform? Not a chance. Everyone has their own ideas and pull in every which way, which doesn't make for a stable platform for the mass market.
And if you think Microsoft is something to fear, just be glad Apple didn't have the same opportunities/flukes - then you'd see what an IRON FIST in the computing world is like.
Bruno
Anyway, it's simple to export as text or html or whatever. And it's now been done.

JPEG is an open (by the old definition) standard. Anyone can get the spec to it and write an implementation. In fact, there exists an implementation that is all but public domain and definitely open by the newer definition. .xls is not an open standard by any definition. Microsoft will not describe the format to anyone. Any of the current non-Microsoft programs that can read .xls documents can do so only through reverse engineering, and can, therefore, be considered illegal. Furthermore, Microsoft does not produce anything that can read .xls documents except on Windows and Macintosh, including their free readers.
I'm not bashing Microsoft because it's fun or it's the hip thing to do. In fact, I'm not bashing Microsoft at all (at least not here). I'm just stating that one of the primary reasons that they are able to retain this monopoly is because they've trained everyone to rely on their products, to the detriment of anyone who wants to use non-Microsoft products. I could go into serious Microsoft-bashing mode here, but I won't, as that's almost totally a religious debate. (This isn't even the Off Topic forum, for God's sake! ) However, posting proprietary formats to someone that you don't know for sure can read them is not the right thing to do.
By the way, I'm seriously not trying to degrade thinfourth2 here. I'm sure that he thought he was doing the best thing. And that's what makes this all so insidious.

Ok, now there's something that is not clear to me.
Consider
0020DF14,Info-Details
If I want to get details i have to HOLD the button. Now, If I wanted to trigger the detail view without holding, is there a separate code to use?
I am asking because on my kenwood remote I have the pause button that does not have an "hold" status. So, i want to replace it's pause function with a "detail"function. If I associate the 0020DF14,Info-Details code to it, I will not be able to hold it and get the details.
Thank you!

BSD is actually being distributed mass-scale though, under the name "Mac OS X" (and it is actually quite good IMHO), but I guess you knew that anyway

I make my living working on Macs, so yeah, I knew about OS X. That's why I didn't list it when I mentioned 9. But it's a lot more than the BSD roots it's built on. It's also the only large-scale consumer-level distribution with a compelling array of ISV support.
Anyway, I was tired of the advocacy thing 10 years ago. People blast everything that's big and everything that that doesn't somehow give away or open its proprietary formats.
I still maintain that if you don't have access, in one way or another, to Excel, whether you like it or not, you should look around to see if you're living in a cave. :)
Anyway, the most appropriate form for posting of the codes would be a clear and well laid out web page over at riocar.org. Then people wouldn't be forced to keep their own little private lists.
Bruno
Now if only I could import playlists in excel format into the empeg. And OpenType fonts...

xxxxxxxx=vvvvvvvv.L
where xxxxxxx is the key you are pressing and yyyyyy is the corresponding key on the remote u are emulating. The .l denotes it a being along keypress.
therefore pressing xxxxxxx will tell the player that yiou are sending yyyyyyyy and holding it down

But really, why was it posted as an Excel file in the first place?
Because the person posting it genuinely thought that would be the most useful format.
Ooooops, I guess I was misunderstood just a tiny little bit. No offense intended on my side. I was (and am) a "bit" under stress, and it always amazes me that there are still people out there who think everybody is able to read MS Office documents Well, I know most are, but even using StarOffice, I am not always able to open those documents, and even if I am, quite a few (especially Word docs) are heavily crippled or have the layout totally f**ked up.
So I am really sorry about the wording I used, it sure as hell brought up the wrong impression about my intent.
I really appreciate each and every post of Remote Codes on this BBS.
Going back to the posting formats: I really think that the best way to transfer documents from your PC to some other (with unknown software installed) is to use RichTextFormat for formated text (or HTML), TAB seperated Text for tables and databases that do not contain any calculations/macros or anything like that (or HTML). Any tables/databases that contain calculations/macros or the like are difficult, I don't know about a real acceptable standard for those. Well, SQL in case of the databases is possible in most (but not all) cases, and Excel format works most of the time for tables that contain macros etc.
HTML can be used for texts and tables if they are intended for immediate display, but if you intend to do some work with the contained data, RTF/CSV is probably the format to choose.
Enough of that. I hope my point got over to you. Again: Many, many thanks for posting the remote codes.
As soon as I get a chance (i.e. enough time), I hope to sum these posts up for the developer info on riocar.org (if Tony isn't faster and puts it in the FAQ).
cu,
sven

No offence taken don't forget i am the guy that deals with diesel engines with pistons wieghting 2.5 tons electronics and computers ain't my area of knowledge but thanks to this board and the empeg i am getting there.
Microsoft products ain't nice but they are easier to get going than Linux for me
So now that is done and dusted i think it is time to search for a better remote for the empeg in home mode as those credit card ones are very easy to lose
Any suggestions

Is that the piston that weighs 5,000 lbs, or the engine itself?
Please tell us more about these engines. There are some motor-head techno-geeks on this board (myself, bonzi, schofiel, pca, n6mod, to name just a few) who would really like to hear more about this!

That would be the pistons. Those ship diesels tend to weigh a few kilos more than that, especially in the ships that Thinforth2 deals with (we aint talking no tugboats here )

Okay one of the few pictures i can find that gives you some sence of scale.
That is a 2 stroke made by a company called B&W the 90 refers to piston size (900mm)
Puts out about 4600Kw per clyinder and revs about 70rpm
Features varable timed injection, hydraulic opened exhaust valves with compressed air springs, and huge turbos.
And currently in development by all the major engine manufactures are intelligent engines with no camshafts everything completely computer controlled.
They truely are amasing engines as nothing is wasted. The cooling water is used for making fresh water from sea water and the exhaust gas is used to heat water to make steam for heating. There is even engines out there that use excess exhaust pressure to drive a turbine coupled into the prop shaft to give an extra shove
