Some of these shots were rushed and were not taken in the best lighting conditions. And my isp doesn't have much bandwidth, so ideally I would like to get these or some of these hosted on riocar.org. No idea how though. Sorry about the mess in the car!! I can never get it clean enough.

My Redblk Spyder
Another beauty shot
An obligatory growl shot
My infinite baffle subwoofer, 2 10" JL Audio subs
(hidden in the car is a Phoenix Gold driving the subs and an Alpine V12 driving the a/d/s/ speaks in the cabin).
Here is my car before i started, alpine unit on top

Here is the empeg with a CruzThs Wood Fascia mounted
Here is the empeg with the Darkstorm smoke plate attached, magic marker mod and heatshrink on the LEDv
The same, front on view, with visual. nice and tight and sharp
The same, front on view, with text
Here it is in the dash, faceplate off the alpine
Here it is next to the alpine
Here it is after starting the car
Here's with the lights out and some misadjustment with my camera.. oops
What's it look like from outside the car?
What's it look like with a patch of sunlight on it?

More installation photos to come. The alpine unit looks like trash next to the classier empeg. :-) I have to take some more shots with the empeg out of the dash to show the sleeve, and also to show the flush mounted serial port. Still working on 802.11b and a flush mounted ethernet port. :-D

Very nifty. The wooden fascia brings it all together nicely next to the alpine. Impressive!

Put those up at riocar.org.

I've been busy making changes ;-). I completed the magic marker mod, although, I could not get the marker tip into every crevice. Can somebody give me some tips?? I am incredibly anal and it bugs me to see a patch of silver or green. Oh well. I also markered over front facing exposed metal, etc. It looks very clean.

Darkstorm's smoke plate showed up that day, and I installed it. I ran over to the Orchard Hardware Supply and picked up some shrink wrap tubing and did the led-shrink wrap mod.

All in all, the face of the unit is pitch black when it is off, and indiglo when it is on.

The handle I'm working on. I remembered at some of the Pep Boys or Kragens around here they sell rolls of wallpaper thin wood veneer. Basically wood wallpaper. I could not find any of this on the internet, and they're not in any of the stores near me. If I see one of these rolls I'd be inclined to stick some on the handle. As it is, my current interior is real wood, and my worry is the fake wallpaper wood will stick out like a sore thumb. As it is, the black handle "fades" into the surrounding black vinyl. So I'm still debating this.

Tony, I have no idea how to put them up on riocar.org. NO idea. I registered, and looked around all over and could not figure out how to put them up.

Actually, I give all the credit to CruzThs for doing the match. I personally delivered (heheh, he lives like 3 minutes away from me) a sample of the interior wood, and he spent quite a bit of time doing the match. The wood in the car is pretty difficult to match -- under low light conditions, the wood is *black*, under normal light it is *brown* and under bright light it is *red*.

I think I would keep the black over that idea I would think the stuff would peel or chip anyway the handle isn't smooth

The other material I was considering was tool-dip. I forget the proper name for it. But it is this rubberized material that you find on the ends of pliers and hand tools. You take a metal part and dip it in this substance, it comes in colors like yellow and red, and when it cures it is a soft and durable material. That would be perfect, except the clearance is to tight.... if only I had some spare handles to experiment with.

even if it doesn't work it should come off. it comes off tool handles anyway who knows if it would take the paint with it or not though

I have no idea how to put them up on riocar.org.

Ask Drakino to put up a gallery for you. I'd do it, but I'm terribly busy right now...

I did not need to get the marker into every crevice to make it look good with the stock empeg green and blue faceplates. I don't know about any other colors. The sharpie markers I used were fine for reaching the things I needed to reach.

When I get some photo space on riocar.org, I will post some more pictures that do show just a teeny bit of metal showing through the screen. It's not really noticible unless you're anal. I have this tremendous urge to magic marker the docking cage...... somebody please stop me... argh!!

I made 3 attempts to post my pics on friday night. (I have my pics at work). It displayed the uploading pictures dialog and said the dialog dissapears when done. When I went in on Sunday the dialog was *still* blinking little arrows. I said enough is enough, and tried two more times and could not get the pictures uploaded. It could be a network problem or a computer problem. I rebooted the computer, and left for the night. I will try again monday night. :-)

There are some really intriguing photos of other aspects of my install you guys should look at.

;-)

Odds are it was a browser or firewall problem. Did you use Internet Explorer, and does your firewall block HTTP uploads?

Tony, check the web stats on RioCar.org, I think it was more then a minor glitch. (that spike was from his attempt to upload the first time). I just checked, and his attempt today worked fine.
