Hi,

I've installed the "Viewer" onto my empeg (through the Bitt Faulk's empeg-preinit, etc.) and everything seemed to have worked well... until I tried to boot waiting for the "Viewer" entry to appear on the Hijack menu list... but it wasn't there :-(
I checked the boot on the hyperterminal and found out that something did not work well... Sigh!

Here's my booting strap:

As a follow-up to my post...

I tried to re-install everything from scratch, except for the mp3 files... and still get the very same error code... (mp3_decoder.cpp ... error=0xc0044000) at the end of the bootstrap, where I guess the player booting gets stack...
The music comes out of the player anyway... but no trace ov Viewer on the Hijack menu list... Sigh! :-(

Has anyone ever encountered my same problem?

Thanks,

Alberto

Alberto, I got the same error, but everything's fine. The player works perfectly, and even the shell prompt works.

Oh, and I have NOT installed the viewer... I think it's an error given because I have disabled the fscheck (or what it's name) with hijack...

I'm pretty sure that the error you're seeing is not a cause for concern. We all see it on occasion. I believe that it has to do with starting an mp3 from the middle.

I feel very confident in saying that it's not a problem with my preinit (I need to update it to do some other stuff), as if it were failing, your empeg wouldn't get very far into the boot at all (I'd stop right after it said ``init'').

That only leaves the Viewer app that differs. See if you can FTP to your empeg and remove the appropriate file (there's probably only one) inside /etc/preinit.d/ and then reboot.

Hello!

Thank you all for your answers...
Doing a fast research in the BBS history, I noticed that the same error has popped up quite often...
And, as said, the player works great anyway...
My only concern was about not being able of taking advantage of the Viewer utility, which I would be very fond of...
I wonder if (and what) I have done wrong for not being able to properly install it...

One question: how do I recognize that the bash file is executed in the bootstrap lines?
At the moment, as you presumed, I only have one (viewerinit), but no trace of viewer bein executed... thus its absence in the Hijack menu... :-(

Thanks again,

Alberto

The shell script ``should'' (but likely doesn't) print out some status messages. That is, there ought to be a couple of echo statements in there.

For that matter, empeg-preinit ought to state that it's running, as well, but it doesn't. I'll see if I can fix that in the near future.
