I have a cd player hooked up to the aux-in input in my car. It would be really nice to be able to rip a new cd while driving. Is this possible? maybe hijack?

Besides, even if you could do this, it would be a bad analog copy (using the Aux inputs) instead of a digital exact-copy rip.

There are other new products on the market from Sony and Pioneer which do this. They have a CD-ROM and a hard disk built in. However, they don't have the capacity or the flexibility of the empeg and its software.

The idea of ripping a CD in the dash is what they had planned for the Mark 3 empeg before SonicBlue decided not to make car players any more. Wonder where this idea will go?
