I am too lazy to take my EMPEG out of my car all the time so I am thinking about buying an Auidiotron for hy home theater/stereo. I am also thinking of buying the Rio Receiver for my bedroom night stand. And, in my perfect automated home, I will someday have a media server to host all my MP3s. But, one thing at a time...

Does anyone have any experience with the Rio Receiver and/or Audiotron? I am specifically wondering if they would co-exist well. Also looking for any general comments.

yes they will work on the same network. The Rio unit has a server that you must have running on your windows machine to stream. The Audiotron uses Windows shares (a shared directory).

Out of interest, why an Audiotron rather than a second Rio Receiver? They do the same job.

Since when does the Receiver officially support Internet radio, optical out, web interface, readable display, and 17" chassis for stereo component looks.

Audiotron has a lot more to offer, but also costs 3x as much.

The last thing I want to do is get unfriendly with Empeg Ltd folk, but the current RioReceiver Audio Manager is atrocious.

I don't think you're alone in this view. But, as I understand it, the Rio Receiver isn't high on the Empeg guys' list for bug fixes and enhancements.

Personally, I think the Rio Receiver is pretty cool for what it is. But, then again, I got mine free. My biggest complaint with it would be the display.
