Just to be curious, what hapend to your mark1? Also just keep checking here and on ebay you will find one, I noticed one sold on ebay a little bit ago for $450 it was a 12gig with everything even a pelican case!

my mk1 just stopped working one day. The blue light does not even flash but the hard disk spins. The Screen would also go blank and the buttons would stop working. I have tried to reflash it and upgrade the firmware with the serial cable. Still does not work. So hence the new one.

Although I support your efforts to obtain a Mk2, I think you should also look into getting the Mk1 fixed. I'm sure that if you contacted support, they could help you diagnose the problem and either repair it for a reasonable fee or give you information on how to repair it yourself.

But whatever you do, definitely get a Mk2 anyway since it's such a great piece of work and has some great improvements over the Mk1.

You could also sell the malfunctioning Mk1 to someone who'd like to get it repaired.
