Since the last San Francisco meet, I have been craving that nuclear green garlic spread on the table at The Stinking Rose. I was just looking for it on their web store, but can't find it. If anyone knows which item it is, I would love to know.

I think it started life as pesto. They seem to sell a couple of pestos at their store, but I suspect neither of them is the seriously garlic empowered variety that they had in the restaurant.

I see they sell Blow It Out Your Ass pepper sauce, which comes with a free Fart Toliet Keychain.

It's called the Bagna Calda
(Garlic soaking in a hot tub)
Garlic cloves, oven-roasted in extra virgin olive oil and butter with a hint of anchovy.

I think it's in their recipe book. You could always call and ask. =]

damn.. now i'm craving it...

Our table didn't order that. I'm talking about the stuff that's on every table in the glass jar with the spoon (or knife) in it.

That would explain why it's green. Maybe I will check out those garlic pestos...

Does anyone know what kind of bread was served at the table? I would assume sourdough since I was in SF, but I put on so much of that 'pesto' I couldn't tell.

You just reminded me of a little incident I caused a couple of years ago.
Me and my girl went to a local restaurant and they had butterknives and forks wrapped in paper towels for people to grab if they were eating from the buffet. I decided that (as students) it would be a good idea to stock up everytime we visited this restaurant. I popped a knife and fork in her purse. Now she was a student but her school was an 8 hour drive away from mine. She had to fly back the next morning.
I'll leave the rest to your imagination other then the following... she was quite embarassed and it was 3 years before 9/11.
