Look at this, excerpted from a spam mail this AM. I don't know whether I should laugh at humour, stupidity, or be genuinely worried:

"We, Chongqing huaqi Fine Chemical Co., Ltd. is engaged in the production of strontium chloride hexahydrate with different specification , strontium chloride anhydrous and other strontium salts series products which are popular with it's high quality & competitve price.

For more information, Please kindly check our website(www.huaqifinechem.com) or contact with us directly and any enquiry or questions from you will receive our prompt attention."

Jeez, shouldn't someone call the cops? Or the AEA?

No, you're confusing strontium (alkaline earth metal between calcium and barium, melting point 800 deg. C, density 2.54, atomic number 38, etc), with it's radioactive isotope strontium-90, a beta-emitter with a half-life of 29.1 years. Ordinary strontium isotopes are non-radioactive, and have many uses in industry. For instance, the salts (specifically the perchlorate) imparts a beautiful deep red colour to fireworks and is used by the ton for that purpose, especially in China. They are also used for ceramic glazes.

Speaking of glazes, if you want something to be worried about and have old ceramics around the house, look for ones that have a clear yellow glaze. The best colour was produced with uranium salts...

And I thought it was the latest alternative health product to sprinkle on my food!
It certainly makes a change from the daily e-mail from an African whose father has been murdered in a coup and wants to enlist my help in moving his fortune out of the Country.

The really scary thing is that I doubt that Patrick had to look up any of that information in a book.

I vote for the BBS admins to change pca's title from the current "enthusiast" to "GOD".

No thanks, I'm quite sufficiently glazed over after reading your preceding paragraph.

Personally, if I saw Patricks car I would be looking for hidden buttons marked "Ejector Seat" or "Turbo Boost", then STAYING THE HELL AWAY FROM THEM!!!

And yes, for the man who designed and built a new tuner module, GOD seems a suitable tag.

looking for hidden buttons

Fortunately, Patrick's going to be in my car, and I don't think he'll have time to fit any buttons.

On a related note, I have wondered if I could put an oil slick label/icon on one of the fake (placeholder) buttons on my dash.

He'll just improvise then Roger. Next thing you know, he will have built an EMP bomb out of the Empeg remote, one of your spark plugs battery, and your electric razer and hooked it up to your windshield wiper switch. You will be stopping other cars dead in their tracks in no time.

I have just left a small puddle on the floor after reading that, and my stomach/face muscles now ache a lot
