I kept looking for that to be a joke URL... but nope. It's legit. That's just creepy.

Is there some reason most of the candidates are democrats? That would seem to give Bush a massive advantage (since the republican vote will not be split so many ways).

It's like a tournament, right now the Democrats are competing with each other for the nomination of the party; Eventually (through primaries and such) they will narrow their way down to one candidate who will go up against the other parties.

Since Bush is the incumbent and is relatively popular, there's just no competition for the Republican nomination.

In general the incumbent president's party just renominates him, so it will be Bush versus whoever wins the Democratic nomination, and the usual crop of 3rd party candidates.

!!! I did not visit this thread previously, thinking it was a joke site I would check out later... In many ways, this is a fairly practical use of the internet and 1-click. In many more ways, this is horrifying!!!

I've sometimes considered filing for election to the State House of Representatives, or perhaps State Senate.

Not with any intent of seriously running for election... but think how good it would look on a resume!

In the UK if you stand for election as a Member of Parliment then you have to put down a £500 deposit that is only returned if you get more that 5% of the vote.

From the FAQ...
Will Amazon.com transfer information about me?
As required by law, Amazon.com will transfer to the campaign(s) to which you contribute your name and address (your credit card billing address) and the date and amount of your contribution.

If your contribution is for Al Sharpton, you will immediately be thrown into a mental institution, or kicked out of the country

Ok, well I put the last part in there...
