Been awhile since I've logged in and read some posts. Really nice to see this community is still going strong.

I'm looking to take a vacation to New York City in a few months and I remember my old Food and Beverage director talking about renting an apartment for a week instead of getting a hotel room. He said it was so much cheaper plus you usually had a kitchenette or full kitchen to be able to cook meals there to avoid the high cost of going out to eat all of the time. I perused the internet a little bit to find some sites but was inundated with sites that were in different languages and sites that haven't been updated since the Clinton administration.

I was seeing if anyone here can point me in the right direction to start filtering out the bs. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

What's the point of going to New York and not eating out? It's one of the greatest culinary cities in the world.

Not everyone has an interest in, nor the palate to enjoy, culinary experimentation.

You don't have to experiment. You can get some of the best and most well-prepared pizza, lasagna, steak, fish — heck, deli sandwiches — in the US in NYC.

I plan on eating out, it's just that money is tight. By eating in I'll be able to partially fill my tummy so when we do go out to eat small bites will do the trick and help the pocket book.

True enough, but some people wouldn't be able to tell, or appreciate, the difference. In the past, I have to admit being one of them -- I didn't care so much about quality, as quantity for the money. I was the guy who would go to NYC, and still end up eating Pizza Pizza or Subway. Then I met a foodie at my previous job, and discovered the pleasure of eating for taste, as opposed to eating to fill my stomach.
