Jeep CJ "Gaucho" pickup.

For anyone who appreciates good workmanship, you might find the build thread interesting.

I'll call your Jeep with Chevy stepside fenders, and raise you this weird Chevy/Studebaker crossbreed...

Cool Jeep trucks?

1960 FC-150 for $2700

I've got my heart set on an Unimog, though.

I love the FC170.

I like the "Gaucho" with the Willys style fenders better than the instantly recognizable Chevy fenders.

The original was a Jeep with chevy stepside fenders. This is a completely hand-fabricated version of the original that addresses all its shortcomings with amazing attention to detail. You'd have to read the build thread to appreciate it.

That El camino and FC150 are pretty cool though. I would definitely love to drive either, although the El Camino isn't practical for Belize.

Don't you only have boat access to your house?

Maybe an Amphicar would be best.

I did read the build thread. It's cool.

We've negotiated a sort of agreement with our neighbor who has us blocked from the road. They let us borrow the key when we need it but don't allow us to keep one. So we still use the boat sometimes and sometimes we borrow a key. It's a weird situation.

Reminds me in the good old days - late 1982 in the Falklands. Rule was that if you could get something out of a minefield it was yours.

So two of my mates ended up with nice Unimogs - brilliant vehicles for peat-bogging

Rory, you strike me as somewhat too youthful to have possibly been in the Falklands back in the Iron Lady days.. wink

Yikes! I can't imagine wanting one as bad as that to walk into a minefield for it!

Meanwhile, I went to look at one yesterday at a dealer-only auction site.
1973 416 hasn't run in at least 5 years. No telling what exactly is wrong with it. No telling if I can subvert the auction (a friend works there).
It's a childhood dream- based on fantasies with a certain Matchbox U406- but I think the Jeep in the OP would be better suited to the realities of suburban living.
Nice toy, but 50mph top speed is a bit of a hassle.

The jeep-truck is a magnificent labor of love, too. Beautiful work!

I should be looking at Toyota 2WD pick-ups. [Groan]
