30gb for sale on ebay - 13/11/2002 09:10

hey folks-

As much as it pains me to do so, my GF has told me to sell the Mk2a. Why I'm listening to her is another story, but I've put it up on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=801132365&rd=1

(Please bid with confidence- I am an ebay employee and must adhere to a code of ethics, which I have linked to in the auction)

I will be putting up my tuner soon as well.

No reserve.

Take care,

Mark.

Well, whay are you?

If I had a GF, and she gave me an ultimatum to sell my empeg, I'd be thinking "If she thinks she can do that now, what will she think she can do if we ever got married", followed by, "Ok, we're never getting married.", shortly followed by, "This relationship's going nowhere fast - why am I still in it?".

If you're doing something that you really don't want to do, just to satisfy your GF's desires, then something is wrong IMO.

He said it was another story. Maybe not THAT one.

Yeah, having re-read my post, I realise that my comments were perhaps a bit strong.

No offense meant..

but I've put it up on ebay:

And just look who's high bidder (at the time I make this post anyway...)

Whats the matter, Paul, aren't four empegs enough? Or is it only three that you have now?

He's got to have something to stick those new 80GB drives in.

No offence taken! That is certainly what it looks like. The reality is that she's right- I need to sell my car, and I need to sell the empeg. I never drive the car, and it would be too complicated to mount on my motorcycle. <shrug> Prices are good, and I need the $$. :/

BTW: It's a NR auction. I believe in letting the market set the price.

Cheers-

Mark..

Well, I guess I just shot Paul out another $15. I wonder how high his max is? Probably higher than mine...

Re: 30gb for sale on ebay - 13/11/2002 19:01

Greetings!

Actually, it is only three at the moment. A friend at work was looking at an empeg, and when I bid it was only at $52. I thought that was almost insulting, so I put a bid in on it. I am not seriously trying to get another player for myself, but if I see an insane bargain...

Edit: Oh well. I have been outbid. No fire sale luck today.

I am searching E-bay at the moment for a second empeg, but most of them on e-bay will ship to US only...
Kinda hard living in The Netherlands.....
There is only one for sale here, but for some reason I have lost my interest in that one.

Why not just ask the seller if he would ship to Europe. That's what I did...

I've never sold to Europe. I would be willing if there was a reasonably low grief-and-agony factor... It's ignorance that keeps me away. What's involved, does any US seller know?

As a buyer who buys from the US a lot I don't think there's much hassle. I have paid using PayPal, engergyflow.com, cash-in-the-post and others. Most of my shipping has been by USPS and out of 50+ packages none have been late, lost or damanged, a few others were by FedEx and UPS and were fine. If you need to under-declare the value then I don't think it matters who use you to ship packages as for FedEx and UPS I don't think you can use different values for insurance+customs. USPS is always at least 1/2 the price of the others, and for heavy items they are way cheaper.

On ebay, I have only been refused permission to bid a couple of times from people who have "USA only" in the description - I find the final price is lower because they don't allow international bidders, and other people can't be bothered to ask.
