"Buy It Now" 399$ good luck!!!

The buy-it-now price is $339, not $399! $339 was below the price that the last two sold for on ebay- $345 and $355. So I set it just below. Anyone who wants to use buy-it-now can have the tuner for just below what the last two sold for. That sounds reasonable to me, and is certainly in the range of Fair Market Value.

I can see how you would mistake $339 for $399, so I changed the buy-it-now price to $340. That should ease any confusion. If anyone gets pissed about the $1 jump, I'm prepared to negotiate!

I'm not sure what you're asking- What happened that made me want to sell the empeg? I'm selling my car. Since I only have a motorcycle left, and I can't mount it on the motorcycle, well, I might as well sell it and get an ipod. I am also selling the empeg, and the tuner module is kinda useless without it...

So there you go. I like the empeg, I'm not sure it's the be-all-to-end-all that many people think it is, but it certainly was fun for a little while. Without the car, though, and since prices are pretty up there, it is tough to justify keeping it.

Actually When I wrote that note there were no tuners coming up on Ebay. I thought you might have pulled it or something. I guess Ebay takes awhile to get stuff up on their site. Good Luck!

Well, sell your Empeg and get yourself an iPod. I guarantee you that you'll immediately know why the Empeg is, to put it in your words, the be-all-to-end-all.

I did.

I don't know my Dad had a really cool head unit on his Yamaha Venture and there's always the wireless option from a pair of saddlebags.... Can you tell I love my empeg...

I've always wanted to know how or if stereo systems work on a motorcycle. Explain more.

One would assume that there are speakers in the helmet, but it's illegal to wear headphones in a car, so that doesn't seem right somehow.

In many places it is also illegal to drive a car without seatbelts, but I never saw a bike with seatbelts either. There was this prototype motorcycle with an airbag, but I believe it's function was mostly to throw you over whatever vehicle you hit. Probably didn't help much when you ran into a truck or SUV, so they settled for ABS on higher end bikes

Re: tuner module up on ebay - 19/11/2002 08:18

Motorcycles are 12v systems like cars, so theoretically a stereo would work just fine. My plans are to get a marine stereo with a wired remote, and mount the stereo in the saddle bags (My bike a Pacific Coast by Honda has a trunk, which is super easy and convenient).

The trick is how to control the stereo while riding. Theoretically I could have gotten one of the sony wired remotes, but that won't handle a lot of water (rain) very well, and I couldn't see the actual display, because the empeg would be in the trunk. Plus, the empeg wants to be mounted at a certain angle. This presents a bit of a problem. Last issue: The empeg needs an amp. More power (Which I don't think the bike has) and more space used up in the trunk.

Some marine stereos come with waterproof wired remotes.

As for the headphone problem, you're right- It's illegal to cover both ears in California. So I'm going to put 2 4" waterproof speakers in the dashboard. My bike is actually equiped with cutouts for this. It should be a neat project!

Have you thought about in-helmit speakers? When looking at speed controlled volume, I found the http://www.autocomamerica.com website. Some neat stuff for motorcycle audio there, especially the AVM system.
