New 20GB RioCar - 15/04/2002 14:09

A friend of mine wants to sell his 20GB Rio Car. He decided it wasn't worth the hassle of installing it into is RSX.

He's asking $400. It's brand new. Buyer would pay shipping.

Tell him to save a little money and sell the RSX pick up a year old Type-R integra and installing the empeg in there is a piece of cake.

Re: New 20GB RioCar - 15/04/2002 17:04

I really tried to talk him into installing it, but he doesn't want to touch anything in the car. Oh well...his loss, someone else's gain.

I'd step over my own mother for my empeg. Your friend is wack.

Mom, If you ever see this it's a joke.

I must say, I'm doing more to my car to accomadate the Empeg then I ever wanted to. But hey, it's an Empeg......

Re: New 20GB RioCar - 15/04/2002 19:39

Shoot, I took the side panels, center console, carpeting, spare tire, and even the entire back seat out to install mine. Wasn't all really necessary, but if you're going to do it, might as well do it right, right? And all this was on my new car. BTW, I was also installing 2 amps, a crossover, 4 new mids, 2 subs, and an alarm. So I gues it really wasn't all that bad, considering.

At least I already had all the other equipment from my cherokee, just hadn't bothered to install any of it. The Empeg was my perfect excuse.

Please beat some common sense into your friend.

If I had to pull the engine, remove the tranny and change every bit of fluid in the car to put the Empeg in, well, I probably be pulling the tranny out about now.

The RSX lost double-wishbone suspension, those oh so sexy bug eyes, and looks like a civic. Tell your friend to test drive a type-R see if he keeps that RSX. When I bought my used type-R from the dealership 2 years ago they wouldnt let me test drive it but the salesman told me if I regretted the purchase at all after 10 days he would let me take it back and would give me $500 for the trouble. Put it this way i knew before I even got home that this car was never going back to the dealership. Of course I blew the engine and finally totalled her a couple months ago, but the two years with her were the best and as soon as I can afford one Im getting another.

FYI, for anybody who has contacted me (or is planning to), I am sending all correspondences on to my friend. He'll get in contact with you.

I'll let everybody know if it's been sold.

Here's the comments from my friend, pretty much verbatim:

"But it's the RSX, Type-S"
"I'm Jewish, not Asian"
"I'm a techie, not a tuner"

I think he's a lost cause.

The S stands for sucky.
Im the whitest boy there is I go to Georgia Tech Im a nerd, whats his point
You dont have to a tuner to appreciate the finest handling FWD car on the road today

Disclaimer: The following is written by my friend, Mike. All opinons expressed within are his, and not mine.

At least it has AC.
I went to Cal, where I learned to use punctuation marks.
Would anyone in their right mind buy a used Type-R? I mean, you blew out the engine and totalled it.

Mike.

P.S. The only Type-R I saw at the dealer was confiscated by the San Diego Police Department.

Re: New 20GB RioCar - 16/04/2002 14:33

Only the 1997 models didnt have AC standard, but it was a dealer option. We dont need no stinky punctuation GA. Yes I would but a used Type-R just make sure it has good compression numbers and the gears are ok. I blew my engine with a turbo most people arent dumb enough to do that to a Type-R. If you are just looking for any old sports coupe than the RSX will be just fine for your inferior tastes, but a true enthusist would spend a lot of time looking for the perfect Type-R.

Re: New 20GB RioCar - 16/04/2002 14:38

Ok no fair! If your friend has such strong opinions, tell him to register on the BBS or take it to the Acura boards! Thank God us Subaru owners stick together!

I heard DSM guys are like that too. The 1st gen guys hate that someone else has a new car. The 2nd gen guys hate that the 1st gen cars are quicker. The 3rd gen guys have brand spankin' new cars but no turbo. Yikes.

Re: New 20GB RioCar - 16/04/2002 14:46

Im just giving the guy a hard time I really dont mean it the RSX is a great car, but personally Id rather have a Type-R. The Type-R is very much like the Empeg in its target market. Those who by either know exactly what they want and why they want it and are willing to wait and look hard to find one. Except the Empeg market go skewed during the firesale. If only the Type-R went on a firesale, imagine buying one for 10 grand brand new. A guy can dream cant he?

Re: New 20GB RioCar - 16/04/2002 14:51

Oh and the same is true for most acura people as well. the message board Im on is so freaking awesome we have local meets all the time and are planning a national meet next summer.

Re: New 20GB RioCar - 16/04/2002 15:31

Yeah, mostly us 3rd gens are pissed that we can't get very many good aftermarket parts yet, but I suppose it will eventually come around?

It's funny though, when everyone meets face to face, 1st-3rd gens, plus the local Celica, Honda, Acura, Ford, etc. guys... everyone is really friendly! But the boards do get trashy sometimes.

Re: New 20GB RioCar - 16/04/2002 15:43

Sorry for contributing to the off-topicness of this thread... but you are right. Most car boards are nasty except for the regional ones. Those are usually pretty cool. That's because if you mought off - you have to see those people in person one day! This BBS is rare that I will probably never meet anyone that is a member of this board... Even the 4 people that I swayed into buying one have not registered on here (they just email me questions!:) )

Re: New 20GB RioCar - 16/04/2002 15:54

Heh, I'll let him know to register on his own if he wants to make any more comments.

I think he's just having fun, like acurasquirrel.

Re: New 20GB RioCar - 17/04/2002 18:27

Woohoo. I despise the amount of copy cat car mods showing up here. If I want my car to stand out, I'll do it in a way different then every other person trying to stand out at that precise time. Thats why the only mod to the outside of my car right now is a small bumper sticker that I doubt anyone has ever been able to decypher. I like it, I knwo what it is, and to the few people who also know it, they probably smile a bit seeing such a rare symbol.

Hmm, I might just have to have a prize for the first person at the meet who can identify it. Noone said anything about it last year, but who knows how visible it was, considering last year I didn't stop by a car wash first. (I had better not get sick this trip.)
