Hatchwatch...How long until Hatch is hacked? - 18/06/2003 04:31

This should heat things up nicely. I'd give it 5 days.

What a douchebag. Maybe someone should rig up something on his car that destroys it when he speeds or parks illegally. You could even give him two warnings like "hey you douchebag stop speeding". Maybe that would teach people a thing or two about traffic laws.

Did I mention this guy is a douchebag?

It'll be interesting to see what happens when they "destroy" a computer which isn't actually in the US..

Hey, good for Mr Leahy. He lives in my neighborhood.

Re: Hatchwatch...How long until Hatch is hacked? - 18/06/2003 06:03

Is he going to be happy about zapping people's computers for downloading his own music?

When he says bluegrass, does he mean what I mean by bluegrass, or what Dolly Parton means by bluegrass?

Have I got this right or do you have two Senator Orrin Hatches in the US? - confused!

Isn't it nice: the industry worth paltry $15bn a year has enough resources to bribe head of Senate Judiciary Committee into proposing selective legalization of terrorism (or what he would call terrorism if done by anybody else).

Ohhh, that IS rich. I can't wait for the statement from him on how much revenue he's losing from pirated songs.

No just one as far as I know.

Makes me proud, it does.

I don't know, wait until the technology is there, then just blitz the government offices with emails containing embedded download links, I am sure once the gov have lost a few million $$ worth of machines they may realise how they have been played.

I was thinking the same thing, though I'll bet you wouldn't have to send any links in at all. Truth is, they'd probably get hammered anyway. Government offices are probably not immune to employees downloading mp3s (if the recent emails I've been receiving about how we shouldn't have p2p software installed are any indication).

So I guess if someone photocopies a painting or a page out of a book, copyright holders will be able to legally go into Kinko's and start busting machines with baseball bats.

I love the fact that the Constitutional right to a public trial was never mentioned.

Ah, but that would require logical thinking. We're talking about brute force, posturing and bullshit here.

The public library over here lends out cd's. I wonder if they will be sued. Naw, the RIAA will probably just burn it down.

My girlfriend works for the DOI at the USGS, and the girl she works with spends all day downloading music and videos. Considering the paranoia of the tech staff there (they wouldn't let me give her speakers to listen to CDs, and it wasn't a noise concern), I'd love to have all these government computers get "destroyed".

Phffft, who needs constitutional rights when you've got the heady scent of the Patriot Act cooking in the back.

Also add this to the fray and this day is just shaping up to be a winner in digital music land.

Love the quote: "We've always wanted our fans to experience our music online," Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich said. "But up until now, the existing distribution methods have not passed the kind of quality standards our fans have come to expect from us."

I think Gooberhead was right..."cock cocks cocks cocks!"

I think Gooberhead was right..."cock cocks cocks cocks!"

Ooooh, new bumpersticker opportunity: Replace that old, illegible "Yossarian was right!" with a shiney, new "GOOBERHEAD WAS RIGHT!"

The Hatch thang is a-f*cking-mazing. We need a Dave Barry to write the Kinkos exploding copy machine script.

From the CNN article: "There's no excuse for anyone violating copyright laws," Hatch said.
Since he says there is no excuse, you reall have to wonder what his excuse is...

Just watched the local news (Salt Lake) and someone planted a pornographic link on his site as well.... ha ha

So what is that, about four days then? Not a bad guess!

Re: Hatchwatch...How long until Hatch is hacked? - 21/06/2003 08:18

Ah, it's not what I thought. Full story here. His site had a link called "explore Utah", which pointed to a URL whose domain name got hijacked for a porn site. Not Hatch's fault. Darn.
