VMWare 4 - 24/03/2004 03:31

Im running vmware 4 in redhat 9, I am using it to boot my pre-existing triple boot Os'es on another drive , (Win98, 2k and XP)
I can use VMware to boot Win98 and 2k sucessfully, but when I attempt to boot XP, it will bluescreen right after the Winxp logo, I can just read the bluescreen says 0x0000007b something to do with hardware detection or vmware passing wrong info to the OS??
I know booting a pre-existing OS off a raw disk is 'dangerous'
Seems strange that it can boot Win2k but not XP... Anyone doing something similar ideas?

cheers

Got the latest VMware from their site? There have been some interim updates since the original v4 release..

I'm pretty sure that NT/2K/XP are heavily tied to the hardware configuration found at install time. Booting any of them up on a virtual machine (which will show up as very different hardware from the OS point of view) is going to be a crap shoot.
