Looking for a Media Player for the car - 13/03/2005 12:26

Hello everyone. I have a quick question. I been looking into possibly finding a unit that will play movie files on a LCD. I been looking over at mp3car.com and some of the installs over there are awesome but from reading it seems that computers dont show very well at all on LCDs. I currenctly have a Panasonic LCD installed in my car. I was wondering if anyone knows of any media center units that are capable of playing on lcd, sorta like a movie playing empeg.
I was tempted to go the Car Pc route but I dont want to get rid of my lcd.

Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

Honestly, I don't think you're going to get much of a response about something like that, when you connect it to the Car PC meme. Members that frequent this board are a pretty biased lot when it comes to in-car media solutions. As a portable media player in general, it looks pretty nifty, but I've never played with one, so I can't comment.

I would never think of replacing the empeg. Just curious if theres a unit that can play avi, mpeg movies etc from a hard drive.

I hear good things about the Archos AV400, but I don't know if it can play to an external monitor.

EDIT: according to the site, you can get a video output. It doesn't look like you can get a VGA output.

It can definitely do that. But I don't know if it does 5.1 audio. I don't think it does. I have the AV340. It's quite good, but I wouldn't want to operate it while in the car, although it does have a remote control.

Well I picked up that unit off Ebay. I will let everyone know how well it plays all the different types of movies.
