Blog software? - 11/07/2005 12:07

One of the local schools wants to setup a weblog. Any free software I should be looking at? I've tried a few and they do the job but any recommendtions would be great. ? Has to look good. Difficult installs are not a problem. Cheers

I know next to nothing about it, but LiveJournal is an open source application available for download.

You may want to check out WordPress.

Here is my brother's customized version, showing a little about what you can do with it. Not much content if you aren't logged in, but you can browse the archives for a better idea.

Just remember to keep whatever you decide on up to date. There seems to be a war going on with the weblog people and the spammers. It's either automated or they pay some random idiot peanuts to sit there constantly submitting spam comments.

I'll second the recommendation for WordPress. It's what I use on my personal site. If you want a hosted solution, I *highly* recommend http://www.motime.com (it's where I spent the first year or two, writing ~1000 words a day solid trying to break into the freelance columnist gig).

That's right. The majority of the content is only for those on a "need to know basis." [insert evil laugh here] There are a couple of unclassified articles available to the general public. But really enjoying Wordpress as a content manager.
