The Boot Camp thread was already started by Snoop. I thought they'd be introducing at least one physical product at the same time as this debut, so that much caught me by surprise.

I don't get why everybody's so excited to dual boot on Mac hardware. Some kind of VMware solution would be much more exciting. And, for that matter, I'd much rather run OS X on existing PCs. I would happily buy a license for OS X for my X41 Tablet, since Apple seems to be unwilling to sell hardware anything like it.

But VMware for mac doesn't exist yet, this does, that's why people are excited.

At the very least now you could dump your windows laptop and move to mac with the knowledge that you can at least run windows should you need to.

I suppose because Apple hardware is 'better', classier, better built etc than many PCs - especially notebooks. I only use Windows apps but a dual boot option is enough to convert me so I could take advantage of the many areas that Mac software excels in.

Apple know this will convert people. Good move by them.

Apple "should" have taken care of this... Though I don't know if they did. With my Powerbook, albeit using a 3rd party track-pad add-on, I put two fingers down on the pad and then click the single button to perform a Right-Click. I much prefer this to trying to hit a different button.

For machines with a mouse it's moot of course - Apple's current mice are two button (though it doesn't "look" like they are).

I'd also prefer a virtualized solution so I can run just a couple of simple Windows apps within a window on my Mac OS desktop. But I'd also love to be able to throw Mac OS onto a cheap X86 box to run as a server (as an alternative to running Linux).

Gizmodo pointed out these two lines from the Boot Camp notes:

I think Bruno is saying he can't believe Microsoft says they're still releasing Vista. As far as I know, an Itanium version of Vista is never coming. Itanium just happens to use EFI, so previous Itanium builds of Windows had to have this ability.
