I've also been thinking it's time for another empeg barbecue, if people are interested. I'd be happy to host, though I'll have to check on possible dates. Tentatively, chime in with which Saturdays in July work for you.

I'm in Kensington, just north of Berkeley, in the hills above El Cerrito. Without traffic, it's about an hour from San Jose, 25 from downtown San Francisco, and somewhere in between for most anywhere else in the bay area.

That would be a great excuse for me to fly out to CA from the east coast. I'd make an effort to be there.

I had 2 trips to SFO in the last 7 weeks, so I'm probably screwed for this, sadly, as it is just slightly too late.

Any weekend in july is currently open for me...

Any other July weekend is fine.

This weekend (July 789) I'm out of town, but any other weekend would work.

I'm thinking about having a Perseid Party at my ranch on Saturday, August 11th.
If that solidifies, then of course all empeggers are welcome!

Yes, circumstances have of course conspired against anything happening in the begining of June.

Currently there are three options:
1) BBQ, my house in Kensington, June 28th. Meat, non-meat, side dishes, beer wine, and geek talk.
2) BBQ, my house in Kensington, August 4th. Same menu plan.
3) Monterey Classic Car Weekend, August 18th-19th in Monterey, CA. This really is the best event held on the Monterey peninsula, it's a great time to just hang out and literally just watch the cars go by. There are plenty of expensive events to go to, but it's not necessary to pay anything to have a great time. The scope of this could be a simple lunch with everyone dispersing afterwards to wherever they feel like going, or it could be lunch-event-dinner-bar-hotel-breakfast-more. There are countless events going on this weekend, The Pebble Beach Concours D'elegance, Historic Car Races at Laguna Seca, Classic Car Auctions, and more.

It's probably time I made a poll. Watch this space.

i have just noticed this thread and would love to meet up with some fellow empeg nuts.

aug 18, 19th is out for me, i am going to the rock the bells concert at McCovey cove.

i gave my vote and could attend either bbq. i live in petaluma and could car pool if there are any other empegers in the north bay.

I voted "no" on the Monterey weekend, since I'll most likely be tied up all day at the Historic Races, and unable to get out-and-back-in to a lunch somewhere else.

And it's just one more item to squeeze into an already super-packed weekend.

However, it does sound like an enticing attraction if people are looking for any reason to come from a great distance. (Of course, robricc needs no further reasons!)

Naturally, I'm in favor of doing both!
I.e., empeg BBQ at Matthew's one weekend, and car-drooling a couple weeks later (with perhaps meeting up with the odd empegger or three at various events and/or wandering about town).

On a related note, Cannery row has been under mass destruction recently while they build
[lisa_simpson] "overpriced condos for rich idiots" [/lisa_simpson] on the waterfront.

Does anyone have any insight into if that is supposed to be completed before Car Week?

I'd love to attend, but I'm traveling July 28 through August 10. Any time before or after that can potentially work for me.

Just voted... 28th is wide open, 4th is ok in the evening (company bbq in the middle of the day, so I'd probably be pre-drunk)... 18th/19th sound good but that might be a bit far out for me to plan!

otoh, if anyone's around in mountain view tonight, I'm off to Molly's for a few pints
