compact stereo - 28/10/2009 14:10
A client is looking for a compact stereo system (US) that supports 5 CDs, has Aux in, and can play to two pairs of speakers simultaneously. I haven't found anything so far.
The Bose wave radio (with CD changer option) would work except it doesn't directly support a second pair of speakers.
Any ideas?
thanks,

If the second set of speakers are self-powered, then that Wave radio's "line-out" plugs will work just fine.
Most home stereo systems (A/V receivers) support multiple sets of unpowered speakers. Older ones especially.

I thought CDs were for music delivery. Why would you want to "support" five of them?
In all seriousness, I've never seen a compact system with two sets of powered outputs. All you needs would be met by a receiver and a CD changer.

...which is not at all compact...

This is the ONLY thing I've been able to find:
Sony LBT-ZX99I5 CD mini system with 180w x 4 channels of audio, including what looks like 4 identical speakers. iPod dock *and* AV inputs.
It covers at least the basics asked for in the OP. $500-$700 retail.

The client has a full sized receiver and CD changer, but she wants to reclaim office space, and she can't handle anything more complex than CDs or XM. She's wired for speakers in two rooms.
That Sony does look interesting. Well, it looks busy, anyway, but the features look interesting.
thanks!
