Rapture Ready?

Rapture Ready? - 20/05/2011 18:29

So, where will you be at 6pm tomorrow?

If you're not planning to be swept away, how do you think the projected loss of 3% of the world's population will affect those who remain?

Sounds like a reason to have another beer.

I'll be at the Indy 500 time trials. First time ever watching a left turn only activity. Definitely a heathenistic activity.

Lying in front of a bulldozer.

Why would a bulldozer care if you're telling lies?

Best idea I've heard so far is for every known christian with a sense of humour to hide around 6PM... wink

Hmm, what about the Mayan long calendar prediction? By their reckoning we've got 19 months left to live it up. Lets party!

In case you don't have a Mayan calendar close to hand, attached is a photograph I took of an incredible sand sculpture on the beach in Puerto Vallarta last month. To give an idea of scale, that disk is more than 10 feet tall.

To preserve detail, I did NOT re-size the picture to be download friendly, so it is kinda big, about 1.7 MB.

One benefit of this I think a lot of folks are overlooking is the shorter lines in amusement parks, especially this one.

Should I assume that because nobody has posted here today, that I've been left behind?

I love it - have forwarded on to my tattooist, along with a pic of the original as I think I can add a chunk of it to my current back piece:-)

hrm, something must be broken with my routing tables. I thought I blocked traffic to destinations outside the Earth, the transit costs are just way too high for me to be able to afford.

Why do some crackpots get all the publicity, while other languish in obscurity? People predict the end of the world every day. Why did so many people follow this particular prediction?

Because he is somewhat influential, as owner of the Family Radio Group, a group of religious radio stations valued at 117 million dollars, and because of his historical 1994 failure.

Dude and his followers bought a bunch of national advertising space. I saw the billboards. Most of the crackpots don't go that far. Money gets you attention when you spend it right.

Re: Rapture Ready? - 23/05/2011 21:38

What has been the official response from said crackpots? Surely they must have had the proper spin ready for when/if the rapture didn't happen?

Harold Camping will announce next week that he found the problem: one of his calculations was using metric years instead of standard years. Or maybe it was Whitworth years... smile

Ah, Whitworth years! Great stuff- the size of the months are based on the diameters of the planets.

I really hope these guys don't have official religious recognition by the US government. They're spreading this FUD on your dime if so.
