Irfanview not very good

Irfanview not very good - 11/03/2002 22:55

I just thought I'd show my progress (or lack thereof) with batch image editing.

Irfanview does exactly what I'd like it to do. I can take as many files as I want as input, choose how I want to manipulate them, choose the output directory, then tell it to go and it does the rest. Here is the result:

Granted, it's a free program and a batch process, but that's just terrible quality! I find it unbelievable that it could mangle an image that badly. It did basically the same thing no matter what size I chose.

Remember, I didn't just need a thumbnail program. I needed something that would resize a large amount of pictures to whatever size I wanted, not just thumbnails.

This program can do neither.

Check the 'resampling' box in the advanced options. I've included two images resized to 128x64 with & without resampling.

...one more try for resampling off

Thanks a lot! That worked just fine.

So I revise my statement. It is a good program

I LOVE this program and have been using it for 4 years or so! Simply amazing! (I like the older versions a bit better cuz I'm more used to them).

Was this program discussed here recently? I love it as a viewer too.

I agree, it's simply the fastest thing out there for flipping through lots of pictures, such as all those I downloaded (for personal enjoyment only) from http://sunsite.dk/cgfa/ . This is a fabulous site if you have some time & need some culture.

Try ACDSee if you like fast. Still haven't found a faster JPEG decoder.

Between PhotoShop 6, Paint Shop & Irfanview, I'm pretty well covered for photo apps (oh yeah there's also 1 or 2 photo stitching programs as well). Good to know though.
