Re: Free webspace - 13/05/2002 00:17

Here's my free website.

advantages:
-free
-no ads

drawbacks:
-the owner of the bbs might not like you uploading files on a regular basis or at all
-anytime you want to update a file you have to re-attach it and every file that links to it.
-shame from having to set up a poor man's website

sidenote: I don't plan on uploading anymore pages

Good, I would consider this to be extremely bad manners toward Paul, and probably a good way to get the file attach feature removed.

May I ask what the point was of all those pictures?

I don't see how this fits this BBS, not even in the Off Topic forum.

He's making the point that if someone wanted a simple web site free of charge they could steal the bandwidth from Paul to achieve that. L33T huh?

Re: Free webspace - 13/05/2002 06:43

I thought it might be nothing new to most people, but I just learned html a few days ago and it was like a startling discovery, kind of like an aboriginie spending his whole life in the jungle and then coming into civilization and discovering the wonders of the telephone.

Please go back to the jungle then...

No, that's not what I'm saying. Well yes, I did say you can, but I didn't say you should. And I don't know what that L33t BS is about.

Re: Free webspace - 13/05/2002 08:30

It's a hacker term for "elite". What they mean is that something like that is a leech on our resources. It's nice that you learned HTML. There's much more constructive ways to use it, though, other than showing people how to steal bandwidth.

The proper way to build and show off your skills would be to create your own web site and try to make it the best you can, adding things as you learn them. That's what I did. Sure, there's ads on free sites. There's also cheap hosting out there. use those options. constructively

I am locking this thread now, and notifying Paul. It will be up to him whether or not this warrants a complete lockout of this user account.
