Works GREAT with Bose!! The Faqs section under riocar.org will give you links to some adaptors

mmm, it didn't work with the Bose in my E Class though. It has no preamp inputs but speaker level inputs. So the only thing I could do was replacing it with an aftermarket amp.
Instead I replaced the oem headunit with a 'Comand' (oem tuner, CD, tel, TV and navigation unit). These have an AUX IN so I can hook up the empeg.
Of course, since the Comand is a double din, it leaves me no room to fit the empeg .... well duuuuuh. I'm trying to fit it in the ashtray, but I haven't been succesful (yet).

That's a good point Frank. Madfly, what type of car is your Bose residing in?

I have a friend with an Audi TT, and I can tell you we're having a heck of a time finding an adapter to hook his Empeg up. Every shop in town we spoke with said "you have to rewire EVERYTHING". We know that is nonsense, but it's an example of how hard it can be to make it a plug & play operation.

If you're making a decision, I recommend deciding how much work you will put into rewiring, or how hard it is to finad an adapter, if you can at all.

Also note this is an Audi, and Bose systems in other cars (GM for example) may be a lot easier to plug in to.

You can find adapters from www.crutchfield.com Just email them and they will give you the item number and such.

Possible solution for the Audi (although I don't know the Audi wiring specifically) is the following new interface from PIE http://www.pie.net/mfi55_inst.htm

Get an Audiolink PD4 - 02/02/2002 20:54

www.linkmeup.com -- Audiolink PD4 lets you hook up a 3rd party head unit to a factory Bose system.

...I have my Riocar working in a 2001 Nissan Maxima with a factory Bose installation. The Riocar sounds better hooked up to the Bose system than the Bose head unit did! VERY satisfied with my purchase.

hey guys, thanks for all the help I'm installing it into a '93 mazda rx-7, and after inspecting the current setup believe that it should be a fairly simple setup as the current CD player (to be replaced) functions pretty much like an auxiliary unit. Therefore, it should be a plug and pray operation.
