? Somebody here who can create a /dev/gps device? - 27/10/2003 08:32
I wonder if there's somebody out here wo can provide a functional /dev/gps which contains the actual position.
It's quite easy to use shell-scripts to program small nice things to do some small nice work :-). To create location based programs I'd like to use an /dev/gps file to get something out like 7.0833 51.56 (East, North or something else, I'm not so good in geography).

Better answer is to use GPSD. It's already a well-defined standard with example source code available and it runs on the Empeg fine from what I hear. GPSApp supports GpsD as a source so you can run it and any programs you make at the same time without problem.

Fine, so there is already a solution.
I searches around, but didn't find a gpsd as a package. Is it part of something? (Obviously not part of gpsapp?).
