BMW Z3 EMPEG install - 01/10/2005 17:13
Hello
I bought a low mileage 2.8 6cyl BMW Z3, but the standard install although upraded by the owner last, was not suitable for top down motoring.
I added two Genesis 2*40W. Custom phono and power cables. Z3bass.com sub enclusure with JL6W0. Alpine DDDrive 5.25".
Thought it might be usefull to owners, comments welcome as I still want DAB and GPS.
Cheers

Thanks not may people appreciate ICE installs, the sub is yet to run in, but it seems to add bass, it's response is lumpy but the extensive EQ of the EMPEG has tuned out the ported-box boom at ~90Hz.
The Alpine tweeters sound superb - the best for the budget, the stock door mounts destroyed all imaging so it was originally like having on headphones.
On the downside there is no space left for the stealthy install of GPS. I used it occasionally in my old doubleDIN setup.
gpsAPP was written for the EMPEG but the two problems are 1)Serial port used for upcoming DAB tuner (hoped) 2)UK maps never available.
The ride is dope - loads of people stare it it and the sound of the exhaust - factory got it just right. Silent in town but throaty on country roads. 200BHP and traction with LSD and rear wheel drive ;-)
WRT GPS I could install like this Z3

but we all can see the 2 risk(s) of overall security hassle and using a Handsfree with the top down.
Far more practical
