I don't watch TV often enough to know what size is good
Don't get caught in the "bigger is better" trap. The size you want is dictated by how far away from it you will be.
When I bought the TV set for my bedroom, I measured the distance between my pillow and the table that would hold the TV. Then I went to the TV store, paced off that same distance from the row of TV sets, then sidled down the row seeing which looked best. Some were too big -- I couldn't see the entire picture without moving my eyes or my head around to take it all in. Some were too small -- had to look closely to see what was going on.
You want the biggest screen that you can look at and see all four corners simultaneously at the distance you will be watching from.
