It's a usual remote and works like every other remote.

I already used it from outside of the car. I mounted some audio-things in my trunk and to test them I had the remote and switched the empeg on, adjusted volume etc. Worked all fine. Of course you need a direct line to the empeg without any things (Except glass) between remote and empeg.
