I was wondering how far the remote control reaches. Can you stand outside the car and still control the empeg?

Yes, but you can't stand very far away from the car. In my experience, I can control the Empeg from outside the car if I'm pretty close to it (for instance, standing behind the car's trunk).

You need a line of sight to the Empeg through the windows. The windows can be closed, but the glass diffuses the IR signal and reduces the effective range.
