Yes there are. I've also looked at the Olympus DS-50 voice recorder, which has a very nice stereo mike (for a hand held recorder) and near CD quality recording, but it's lack of removable media and 128 kbps WMA data rates make it somewhat flawed.

This is more about nostalgia and coolness factor than about the best way to get the job done. In fact, I already have a very high end Tacam CF recorder that would blow this thing away in performance (24-bit, 192 kHz), but size and having a very rare and unique piece of gear from another era has as at least much value to me.
