Accoreding to the datasheet:

With the full version of Kofax Advance Exchange Plus; VRS 4.x Professional, Adobe Acrobat Standard, and ScandAll 21 software, users get image enhance-ment functionality as well as the option of scanning directly to PDF, file, print or batch."

So, like most recent scanners, this thing was delivered with enough software to create PDFs.
