Rob, Hugo, anyone?!?!?!
My Empeg MK.II died on me just a bit after I got it installed in my car!
When you power it up, the blinker LED just flashes over and over, nothing on the screen. I know the unit is still functioning, because I am able to connect it to the PC, and load Empload, and it finds it and stuff, but the screen is no where to be found. Not even a logo at boot up?
AHHHHHHHHHH?!?@>!$?@!#$
I just get the thing, and it dies! Looks like 2 for 2 now counting steves prob!
Any suggestions?
Chris

Does the blinking standby light stay on all the time, or does it go off when the screen should be on? There was a problem with the dimmer code at one point, whereby the screen stayed dim (in which case you can try to navigate the menus blind to change the dimmer setting - it's one option to the left, so press down, left, down, right (several times) and see if that helps.
Otherwise, email hugo@empeg.com directly, I think he's going to be in Cambridge this weekend and he's the Mk.2 guru.

Speaking of dimmers, here's another question to ask:
Is it possible that the new headlight-sense wire got accidentally mis-wired? As I understand it, he was replacing a Mark 1, which has the wires color-coded differently. Perhaps he wired all the same colors?

If the problem isn't dimmer related, I suspect we'll have to get it back here and send out a replacement (so you're not mk2-less for long!).
The display PSU was a known issue with the mk1, which is why we totally redesigned it for the mk2 - and we've not seen any failures with our test units over the last 6 months or so.
Rob will contact you privately about how we work this swap!

I don't think this is just a MkII problem. I've been having the same "no display on boot" problem since I installed 11a on my Mk1 a couple of days ago. That was the first I saw it, and it seems to happen every 2-3 boots. The player is playing just fine, but there is no display except for a slow blink of the LED. I'll send it to bugs@empeg.com, too. Thanks, Jason

As I said, this is a known problem on some Mk1's. The Mk2 display PSU is a total redesign and shouldn't suffer from the same issues.
Rob should deal with your mk1 problem - if you've not heard from him already!

No, everthing is wired correctly. Something happened to two of the surface mount fuses that run the display. I have no idea what. Rob and Hugo will look in to it, and hopefully come to a conclusion.

Just checking on this bug...have you all found anything about the Mk1 display not coming up in b11a? Is there anything I can do to help? Thanks, Jason

No, it's a hardware fault; we've isolated the cause of the problem and for the last month or so have been fitting a supression component which should prevent the replaced display from suffering the same fault.
We're honouring warranties outside the stated warranty term on mk1's with dead displays (no physical damage - we have had a couple of dropped units which are chargeable fixes!).

Ok, I think I understand... You're saying that my display board just died, and it's coincidence that it was after I installed 11a? Sounds fair, just let me know what I need to do. Is the Mk1 display as easy to change out as the Mk2, or will I need to send it in to Orlando (~2 hrs by car) or Cambridge? Thanks again,

Yes, just a coincidence.
Mail rob@empeg.com - the unit has to come back here as it's not just a display swap (which isn't easy on the mk2; swapping the display plastic is easy, not the electronics which involves removing the HDD cradle, etc).
We do all the service back in the UK now. Rob will arrange the collection of your unit & we'll fix it asap.
