Well, I guess you guys did a good job, because I don't notice anything wrong, after getting the error message at one point that the board was moving. Are we situated now??

I don't know if it's a result of the BBS move, but there's a thread from 1999 on the front page of the General forum that doesn't have any new posts in it, so I don't know how it got there. It's called "Registration Number" and was started by PaulH.
Also, and this isn't a selfish complaint or anything, but I wanted to see if all the posts were moved over. So I checked that post of mine that ended up being the 100,000th post, and now it's something like 99,804. Just hoping that it really got everything.

A few days ago, there were a few old threads showing up in the General forum but with no new posts. I believe they were due to trial-runs of Yz33d's "bot", where he deleted the added messages after creating them. After clicking on them, they went away for me and never came back.
You might want to try a log-out, clearing your browser cache and cookies and doing a re-login. This often fixes problems with the BBS, and it wouldn't surprise me if the DNS change is causing problems like this for some users.

I don't think that's the issue. I don't think my cookies would show the wrong post numbers or move posts around. Besides, I've been one of the lucky people who never has any problems with the board All of my new post icons have always worked, too.

Greetings!
Speaking of bots...
I hit the Who's Online option, and saw that there were no anonymous users anymore. I know someone, sorry I forgot who, was gathering statistics by using an anonymous user to hit against the board. That person may want to reset or otherwise modify their probe.

It could be. I honestly don't remember.
Additional: You are right. It is Frank, and his collector. Tony may also have a bot to show new postings as well.

It's not a bot. It's a web browser window set to do a "refresh" every two minutes on the main page. And I'm set to invisible so you won't be seeing me on the Who's Online page anyway.
But yeah, if Frank's tracker isn't there, it means he probably didn't get the DNS update, or possibly, that he was doing it by IP address instead of by DNS name. Someone e-mail him, eh?

Hehe, just curious. I thought he had been gone a lot longer than he had. I didn't know his last post was fairly recent, even if it was 3 months ago.

Also someone may want to mention that the BBS is now GMT -4 rather than GMT +1. Makes all the post times etc correct by adding +5 to your current timezone in your profile.
I'm kinda picky about that sort of stuff...

Was a little vague though. Adding +5 to a previously working time is right.

Glad the server move went smoothly... It seems that the mailed daily archives somehow got broken during the move. Not _too_ broken, but all the messages look something like this:

It -WAS- mentioned. In the announcements forum.
The words "Subject" and "Date" are missing. It's obviously not too serious a problem, but it certainly is bizarre.

Thats odd. I did notice the config files wen't set up like everything else I got from Paul, he may have been running something different to take care of the daily subscription runs. I'll check with him next time he is on.

Woo hoo. I can finally get on the boards again. I felt so lost. I had no idea it was being moved until I couldn't get on and then read about it on riocar.org. The old URL still doesn't work for me, but empeg.comms.net did work tonight.

Yeah, the old DNS two-step. For a while yesterday I panicked because it was resolving to a squatter host address. Should all be working OK for you now, right?

Please don't put it back *exactly* as it was before, because something
in that configuration caused me great annoyance: the daily email used
to strip out any URLs. The new version leaves the posts pretty much
unmangled (apart from the missing Subject: and Date: header words).
I could complain that the new code includes a mess of HTML every time
someone uses the smiley-face feature, but I'd rather ignore the mess
and have the URLs than have no mess and no URLs:-)
Thanks for the amazingly work to make this transition work so well and
so quickly!

Just a quick suggestion, maybe quite useless but... What about having the bbs on
forums.riocar.org or bbs.riocar.org or something like that?

There are three people with admin access to this forum: PaulH, Drakino, and me.
Actually I think there's one other, but he hasn't been on the board in years.
