You asked for it, you got it. We'll supply an ISO to bare leads cable with every Mark 2 empeg, which will be useful for clients with cars that don't have ISO and who don't want to purchase adapters.

The leads are on order now, and will be sent on to clients that have already purchased a player. Sorry if it's too late, but at least you'll be able to pass on the cable if you ever sell your Mark 2.

Great! Now this is customer support as it should be! Many thanks!

Btw, so I can expect several boxes from you during the next few weeks and month, right? A carry bag, an FM tuner module, a lighter-tinted front panel, an ISO connector... did I forget something?

Cheers
Daniel

We'll send out the carry bag, new fascia, new screen and ISO cable in one package around the end of next week.

The tuner will follow somewhat later, as soon as we have some in stock.

Well done Rob, the right move I think. All we need now is for our empeg's to arrive pre-loaded with the music of our choice!

Regards,

I wasn't keen on the box it came in... any chance of packaging it in a BMW Z3 or an Audi TT? As a free upgrade? Please?

I think there are some parts of the engine missing on the Z3-package. And as you should know the Audi TT was taken out of their production line because of troubles with the steering.

In my case the ISO connector fit perfectly, however in my 2000 VW Jetta the always-hot wire and the ignition-on wires were reversed, as well as there was a 2nd always-hot wire...

That's a known issue with VW's: they have swapped wires. There's a VW ISO <> Real ISO converter available from most installers :)

or you get this converter from VW directly, there is another issue since the antenna is remotely powered through the antenna wire so the power has to be feeded from the iso to the antenna somehow which is normally done by the original radio, check with vw they know about it it's roughly $25, J.

I already got mine, along with my faceplate and carry case.

Thank you SO much for that thing.. it made my install a hell of a lot easier. :)

Although we got 50 ISO leads out to the original Mk.2 mini-batch purchasers, a late shipment has prevented their inclusion with players since then.

All players shipped from tomorrow will have ISO leads - anyone that already got their player without an ISO lead can have one sent on by emailing me.

I have to say thank you again for including the ISO leads with the player.

I used the supplied connector to get the empeg in (you couldn't possibly expect me to wait until the weekend, could you?) I stopped by a Circuit City to see if they carry the GM to ISO adapter. I got "[CS]IS What?" "[me]ISO" "[CS]What's that?" "[me]Umm, a type of connector for the back of my stereo..." "[CS]Try Sound Advice"

So, being in no major hurry to get home (read: an excuse to drive some more with my new friend,) I went to Sound advice. This went even better. Again I asked the knowledgeable person behind the counter if they carried said connector. "[SA]You want a what?" "[me]GM to ISO connector" "[SA]What's ISO" "[me]A standard connector for many new OEM stereos" "[SA]There is no standard in the audio industry" (I forget what I said next, but it was basically along the lines of "I know, do you have one?") "[SA]Who do these ISO people think they are?" "[me]An International Standards Organization..."

It's been a while since the conversations, but that's basically the gist of it.

Seconded- though my car already had an ISO connector, it was being used the CD/radio. Provision of the spare ISO connector with the empeg allowed my installer to tap the thing straight in to the first, very clean and straightforward.

It seems that the way to get the cable you want from a US supplier is to actually show them the connector. If they don't recognise it then, I guess they haven't looked at many head units lately.

Rob,
I must have been one of the first to get one, and let em tell you how cool it was. I even ordered a factory <-> iso wiring harness, but all I got from crutchfield was factory to bare wires (i dont even know if they really have factory plug to iso converters).

so all it took was some soder and I was done. no cutting factory plugs or empeg plugs!!! works great! I especially like the wire functions printed on the insulators. It looked like the wire flags could eventually wear out / fall off.

Great job, quality product!
